Our mission is for Coverack to have a sustainable village shop serving the local community, second home owners, visiting holiday makers and other village stakeholders. We will provide an outlet for everyday value groceries together with local artisan foods and crafts.
Once financially sound any surpluses will be used to support village local events and organisations to ensure the continuing vibrant life that Coverack has enjoyed through the ages.

We rely on the support and skills of local volunteers, and we invite everyone to get involved. Whether you can lend a hand at the till, with deliveries, admin, maintenance, or simply offer your time and expertise, we would be so grateful for your help. It’s all about coming together to create something truly special for Coverack and the community.
The shop is set up and run as a not for profit Community Benefits Society (CBS) with the help of the Plunkett Foundation. This allows us to obtain grants and other funding and be a legal structure governed by the Financial Conducts Authority (FCA). Operating the shop as a CBS will allow the shop when financially viable to donate surplus proceeds to support other Coverack Community projects and events.

We have had successful meetings with the Plunkett Foundation and completed the process to set up and register the shop as a Community Benefits Society (CBS) and register with the Financial Conducts Authority.
Every pair of hands makes a difference, we invite you to volunteer in the shop. Click the button below to register if you would like to help.
We have agreed in principle a 10-year lease for the shop, ensuring it will remain a vital part of our community for years to come.
We are focusing on making essential repairs and updates to the shop’s interior and exterior.
We have set up the legal and business structure needed for fundraising and applying for much needed grants and help from local businesses.
Further funding is raised by selling shares or from donations.
There are currently 340 community owned shops throughout the UK, most have the support of a charity or the financial and practical help of the local community.
Let’s make Coverack Community Shop a success, with your help and engagement.
